For the second time, the family-friendly tradition-preserving festival will be held in Királydomb, in the capital's 10th district, in Cancer Fields, declared a national memorial site at the suggestion of the Patriots. On the site of the former parliaments, visitors are welcomed with medieval war games, old music concerts, colorful traditional programs, a puppet theater and a petting zoo.
The most popular attraction of last year's King's Festival, the former huge, reconstructed tent of the Hungarian kings, which, according to sources, stood at the highest point of the Rákos field, on the top of the King's Hill, will be set up again on the site. In the field under the hill, in the tradition-preserving crowd, those interested can learn about the crafts of the time, but a medieval playground is also being prepared thanks to the Compania tradition-preserving team.
The Historical Military Academy Foundation is also participating in the organization of the King's Festival this year, and they are waiting for the youngest with exciting war games and duels.
"The parliaments of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary were mostly held on the outskirts of Pest, in the so-called Rákosmeze. This was the place in the bright centuries of Hungarian history where the fate of the country was decided. Tens of thousands of people gathered here. Rákosmező became a symbol of sovereignty, the common voice of the country was articulated here," explains Róbert Hetzmann, president of the Association of Hungarian Patriots. "The parliament of Hunyadi cannot be forgotten," he added.
The early music ensembles Hollóének Hungarica and Tabulatúra play music on stage in this year's medley, and the Számadó band plays in the medieval dance hall. This year, in addition to the stage tent, a performance tent will also be built, where those interested can hear lectures about the Hungarian Middle Ages.
During the festival, an exhibition on the history of Királydomb can also be visited, and the Patriot book tent offers medieval-themed books for lovers of the era.
