EU pollsters published a misleading survey on sanctions against Russia, Mandiner.hu pointed out.
According to the portal's article, the Eurobarometer survey conducted between June 17 and July 17, 2022 claims that citizens' trust in the European Union (EU) has increased, and the EU's response to Russian aggression against Ukraine continues to enjoy high support.
The Standard Eurobarometer 97 Summer 2022 research also states that the vast majority of EU citizens support investments in renewable energy and measures to reduce the EU's dependence on Russian energy sources, and support for the euro has reached an all-time high.
However, it is not clear from the methodological summary of the survey whether the results are representative, nor is it clear whether the research sample is based on a sufficient stratification of the population of the member states.
It is clear from the brief summaries of the individual member states that the size of the research sample is only 26,468 people. In addition to other methodological shortcomings, all this is also interesting because the "opinion" of Estonia, with a population of barely 1.3 million people, is for example expressed by the contribution of the same number of informants (1,026 people) as that of Hungary with ten million people (1,026 people) or Germany with 83 million people ( 1,507 people) - although in the case of the latter, the number of respondents is so low that even in the case of a stratified sample, it hardly represents the opinion of Germans realistically.
