An unprecedented case came to light when Péter Márki-Zay, the candidate for prime minister of the left, revealed that they had received several billion forints in campaign support from abroad, reads the statement of Fidesz. They added: in addition to being illegal, this is also a gross attempt to interfere in the Hungarian elections. The scandal also raises issues of sovereignty and national security, so it cannot remain unclear.
János Halász, deputy faction leader and vice-chairman of the national security committee, asked Zoltán Sas, chairman of the parliament's national security committee, to convene the committee as soon as possible and enable the case to be investigated.
The other day, Zoltán Sas stated to the interest of the Hungarian Nation: he supports the National Security Committee's investigation into the case of American campaign subsidies provided to Péter Márki-Zay's movement. Known: Máté Kocsis announced on Thursday that the faction leaders of the governing parties will initiate the panel to review the issue of foreign campaign support for left-wing parties.
All this became necessary after Péter Márki-Zay, the fallen Prime Minister of the left, recently admitted that hundreds of millions could have come to his movement in the parliamentary election campaign. In addition, the mayor of Hódmezővásárhely also testified that the support came from an American foundation called Action for Democracy, which was established right before the Hungarian election and even after the election campaign received money from the Meninki Magyarországa Mozgalom (MMM), an organization linked to György Soros. According to Márki-Zay's argument, MMM is not a party, so the organization can safely accept subsidies from abroad.
