CitizenGO also joins the three-day prayer initiative for peace launched by Mária Rádió starting today. "We invite our members to pray together for peace in these days and, as a sign of this, to put a candle in our window at 8 o'clock in the evening for three days starting today." - they write in their invitation.
It would be nice if our prayers and these small lights would illuminate Hungary and radiate warmth to the neighboring countries.
Those who are not at home during these evening hours, instead of placing the candles, stop for a minute in whatever activity they are doing (be it driving, work or entertainment) and say a short prayer for the suffering people, the people at war for countries, for the decision-makers of countries at war. During these days, fasting related to joint prayer can be abstinence from food, favorite passions, thrift, mending broken human relationships, and reconciliation.
József Mindszenty is credited with saying that "if there are 1 million praying Hungarians, I am not afraid of tomorrow". The aim of Radio Mária is to really have 1 million people pray for peace these days in the evening hours.
All three days from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the staff and volunteers from the studio appear live on Mária Rádio, encouraging everyone to pray. During the day, it will be possible to notify our volunteers by phone if someone joins the prayer chain. The number of the prayer line is: 06 1 999 44 30
We bring to the attention of our Catholic members that during the days of prayer and fasting, Masses for peace are presented in several cathedrals. Click here to see the dates and locations of these events.
