The British and American political worlds are not, to put it mildly, demanding an immediate end to the war. Moreover, they often exacerbate war psychosis. There is no danger of a nuclear attack, but one of the best-known British scientific papers, miracle of miracles, has published a real manual on what to do in such a case. If only there were. For example, they write things like this: if a nuclear attack directly hits our place of residence, or if all the atomic bombs in the world are detonated at the same time, we will not have much chance of survival. However, according to them, surviving a minor nuclear attack is not impossible. IFL Science has put together what to do in this (never-happening) scenario. We'll show you.

First, a quick reminder of what constitutes a nuclear explosion. The B83 is one of the most powerful weapons in the American nuclear arsenal: if deployed, 5 quadrillion joules of energy would be released, which is 79 times the power of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

For simplicity, let's assume that the explosion occurs on the surface. The nuclear fission creates a huge fireball, the core of which has a temperature of 83.3 million degrees Celsius. It is not difficult to predict that if we are in the immediate vicinity of the explosion, nothing will be left of our body, we will literally "sublimate".

The heat radiation accompanying the explosion would affect an area of 420 square kilometers. Those staying here would suffer third-degree burns. The massive pressure wave would pulverize every building within 17 square kilometers. Last but not least, the surrounding area would be hit with massive amounts of radiation; if there is no wind, 90 percent of the population within 21 square kilometers would receive lethal radiation exposure.

What can be done in such a seemingly impossible situation. The key word is preparation. Based on the guidance of the United States Department of Homeland Security, let's first inform those closest to us about the possible escape routes and choose a place not far from our settlement where we can all meet later!

Put together a suitable "survival kit": plenty of bottled water, thermal blankets, canned food, medical equipment, and a working radio doesn't hurt either!

We have to be several kilometers from the epicenter of the explosion to have any faint hope of survival.

It can help if we are not hiding near some famous place, and if we live in a town that is considered a potential target, we should leave the settlement and its surroundings as quickly as possible!

If the explosion occurs, it is important not to look towards the light under any circumstances! The power of this is so great that we would go blind. If you are near a window or in a tall building, immediately run to the deepest point possible! We have to hurry, because we only have a few seconds left until the pressure wave arrives. Do not stay near the window under any circumstances, because you can be injured by flying glass shards! We cover our ears, because the pressure wave created by the explosion can also rupture our eardrums!

After the explosion, do not go outside, stay inside the building for the whole day, because the walls can protect you from ionizing radiation and the radioactive cloud! We are not lucky if the wind from the explosion blows particles of radioactive debris in our direction. In this case, find a poorly ventilated place and cover your mouth and nose with a cloth!

The radiation from the explosion will be extremely strong, but after a few hours the level of radiation will decrease relatively quickly. However, the environment outside the building remains dangerous, so if no signal or rescue team arrives, wait at least 12 hours before leaving the shelter!

As soon as possible, take off the outer clothing - jacket, sweater - this can remove up to 90 percent of the radioactive material!

Throw the clothes in a metal container, this protects against radiation! If we don't have such an opportunity, we simply leave the clothes behind! If you are at a safe distance, take a shower, so you can remove the remaining radioactive particles from your body! Blow your nose and wipe your face clean with a wet cloth!

If you are outside at the time of the explosion, lie on the ground, cover your head and hide behind some metal object that can protect you from the radiation! If we are past the most dangerous moments, let's get as far away as possible before the radioactive fallout reaches us!

As we wrote at the beginning, no one seriously thinks that one or the other war party (and here we are referring to the Russians and the Americans behind the Ukrainians) would drop a nuclear bomb. On the contrary, it is suitable for influencing British and American people (at a minimal level, of course). To make it acceptable, why is their own government spending taxpayers' money on a foreign country's weapons.
