Belgian academic and economist Philippe Van Parijs spoke to De Standaard about what happens when we lose our national identity.
"Brussels can no longer be called part of Belgium"
said of Belgium is becoming more like Brussels.
Philippe Van Parijs made a demographic study. His discoveries surprise only those who want to remain blind. In ten years, the proportion of Brussels residents with both parents holding Belgian citizenship has dropped from just 36 to 26 percent.
There are more residents of Brussels of Moroccan origin than of Flemish or Walloon origin.
"The European Parliament recently voted to isolate Viktor Orbán's Hungary. The real clash between Brussels and Budapest is over immigration. Not all because of immigration, as Hungary accepts 15,000 Ukrainian citizens every day. No, the debate is only about Islamic immigration"
- believes Giulio Meotti, Italian publicist.
"And Budapest, not without reason, does not want to be like Brussels"
he adds.
Viktor Orbán's governing party, Fidesz, held its annual general meeting behind closed doors on September 10. However, some of Orbán's long-term predictions have leaked out. According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, "by 2040, Muslim immigrants will be the majority in French cities".
"We can only hope that Orbán is wrong. But we won't be able to sleep at night because of the numbers"
- believes Meotti, listing the percentage of the Muslim population of several French cities.
- Marseille (30 percent Muslim),
- Lyon (30 percent Muslim),
- Montpellier (20 percent Muslim),
- Strasbourg (12 percent Muslim),
- Bordeaux (92 mosques),
- Mulhouse (25 percent Muslim),
- Avignon ("city of the Salafists")
- Tours ("from bell towers to minarets").
But also medium-sized towns like Pessac, with a population of 50,000, are 25 percent Muslim.
According to Meotti, the most effective and fastest way to decline a country is to import a foreign population en masse and let them concentrate in a city, creating communities with very strong identities, without plans to integrate into the host culture.
"Prosperity isolates them without integrating them, they also get the right to vote and balkanize a culturally stable area in a few years. Welcome to Europe!”
- writes the Italian publicist at the end of his opinion piece.
