They started a fundraiser for Transcarpathian libraries to buy Hungarian books. You can join the noble initiative from anywhere by transferring money.
The Székelyudvarhely City Library has been organizing a charity campaign for many years to support the libraries of Transylvania. The Bibliofil Foundation, based in Székelyudvarhely, would support Transcarpathian institutions this year, helping to expand the Hungarian-language book collection.
"Foreign libraries found themselves in a difficult situation with the termination of the Márai program, so a significant source of support for the purchase of books in the Hungarian language ceased. Transcarpathia is in the most difficult situation," explained Dóra Tegdes Egyházi , president of the Association of Hungarian Librarians in Slovakia and one of the ambassadors of the noble initiative, to Felvidék.ma's question.
Book lovers can send their monetary donations until October 9. The support form is available and can be filled out here.
On the website, the initiative can be supported with a fixed amount of 50 RON (approx. 10.10 euros), 100 RON (20.20), or 250 RON (50.50 euros), and it is possible to support by setting an individual amount. Payment can be made by bank transfer or online.
In addition to the fundraiser, a charity sports event will also take place this Sunday in Székelyudvarhely, where ambassadors contribute to the financial fundraiser based on their performance by running or cycling the distance they have undertaken. The ambassadors who live further away, including Dóra Tegdes Egyházi, also complete the agreed distance at their residence.
From the support received, the Bibliofil Foundation acquires the necessary volumes based on the book lists of Transcarpathian libraries.
