While public opinion polls on a similar topic carried out in previous years usually showed that the country's population trusts the military and the church the most, today this order has been reversed.
a recent survey , respondents now trust the fire department (77%), the SMURD (emergency life saving) (63%) and the ambulance service (57%), while the military and the church have slipped to fourth and fifth place, respectively.
This is perhaps an interesting turn of events in that context, because for months there has been a public debate between Minister of Health Alexandru Rafila and State Secretary of the Interior Raed Arafat, head of disaster management, about the reorganization of the General Directorate of Disaster Management (DSU), but the recent survey clearly shows that the population is very satisfied with the Arafats with his work.
What is thought-provoking is that the respondents trust hospitals (barely 15 percent) and parliament (17 percent) the least, but the office of the president and even the National Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (DNA) are at the bottom of the list.
Another chapter tested the support for EU membership, here the numbers are quite clear: 70 percent of the population still imagines Romania in the European Union, while barely 9 percent of those polled are pro-exit. Only 7 percent support the rapprochement with Russia, while 35 and 31 percent of the subjects believe that closer relations should be established with the United States of America and China.
