Bulgarian President Rumen Radev refused to sign the declaration of nine Eastern European countries because it contains a clause supporting Ukraine's NATO accession, the press service of the head of state said.
The document was signed on Sunday by the presidents of Romania, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Slovakia and Poland.
It is known that Hungary was also left out of the list above, precisely because our country still does not supply weapons to the Ukrainian-Russian conflict. That is why Head of State Katalin Novák did not sign the declaration in question on Ukraine's accelerated NATO accession.
"RUMEN RADEV DOES NOT AGREE WITH THE FULL TEXT OF THE STATEMENT ON UKRAINE'S NATO MEMBERSHIP ACCEPTED BY SOME EASTERN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, THE PRESIDENT SUPPORTS OTHER POSITIONS TAKEN IN MY DOCUMENT" - says the statement-
In 2008, at the NATO summit in Bucharest, Bulgaria signed a declaration on Ukraine's future accession, but this happened in a completely different security environment, the Bulgarian presidential press service said.
