In a statement, the Hungarian Hollywood Council announced that it awarded the Adolph Zukor Award to the five-time Emmy award-winning film director Gábor Csupó for his outstanding professional activity in accordance with the legacy of Adolph Zukor, his achievements in the film industry, and for strengthening the international reputation of Hungarian film.
At the ceremony held at Origó Filmstúdio Balázs Bokor emphasized that Csupó has long felt the importance of the mission to preserve the memory and heritage of Hungarians in Hollywood and to introduce this topic to as many people as possible.
You belong to this exact circle, of whom we can and should be proud. He thanked Csupó for being a member of the presidency of the Hungarian Hollywood Council as an important symbolic gesture.
Jonas Stewart, counselor at the American embassy, highlighted the traditions of Hungarian-American film relations, the Hungarian founding of Hollywood and praised Csupó's work. Oscar-winning film editor Joe Walker (Dûne) touched upon how important Csupó's works were in the history of animation.
Dr. Márta Fekszi, the company manager of Origó, the hostess of the event, was happy to welcome Csupó on the occasion of his 70th birthday. The Zukor award was presented by the president Balázs Bokor and István Vécsi, the mayor of Ricse.
He expressed his great joy upon receiving the award and emphasized that it is always an honor to follow in the footsteps of great Hollywood predecessors.
