In September, the domestic electricity consumption has been continuously decreasing for the third month, to which the population's energy savings contributed to a large extent - emphasized the state secretary responsible for energy at the Ministry of Technology and Industry (TIM) on his social media page on Wednesday.

In his post published on Facebook, Attila Steiner indicated that, even compared to last year, consumption was much lower despite the fact that this summer was hotter than the previous one.

"While the people of Europe are paying punitive prices for energy due to Brussels' misguided policy, and moreover, there is a fear of regular disruptions in their availability, the Hungarian government guarantees security of supply and protects utility reduction," wrote the state secretary.

He drew attention to the fact that, in addition to cutting utilities, the Hungarian government helps families with the firewood program, the brown coal program, the gasoline price freeze, the food price freeze, and the interest rate freeze.

The utility reduction will remain for all Hungarian households up to the level of average consumption, above which Hungarian users have to pay the so-called residential market price, which is much more favorable compared to the world market price - reminded Attila Steiner in his post.

The state secretary announced based on the latest data from Mavir Magyar Electricity Power Transmission Management Co., Ltd.: electricity consumption was even higher at the beginning of the year, it reached the same level by May, and since then it has remained consistently below last year's level.

In the last month of summer, lower consumption was achieved despite the fact that the average monthly temperature was 3.5 degrees higher compared to the same period of the previous year. The more economical use of energy by households plays a significant role in this, he pointed out.

The country is prepared for the winter heating period, for the operation of the domestic economy, and the necessary energy carriers for households are available, emphasized the TIM state secretary.
