László Kövér said in an interview published in the Friday issue of the Hetek newspaper that there are still more advantages to Hungary's EU membership than disadvantages, but the ratios have deteriorated significantly.
He classified the fact that Hungary has continued to catch up with the average performance of the European Union in the last five years as one of the advantages. In the meantime, the political situation has deteriorated significantly - the President of the Parliament drew attention.
According to László Kövér's assessment, there is a brutal force policy against Hungary, they want to impose obsessions and ideological dogmas on us, which, if we do not resist, would have very serious social consequences.
What is going on with EU funds is "such open arbitrariness that it can only be called a roadblock," he added.
According to his opinion, there is at least a 50 percent chance that the money due to Hungary will be withheld at least until the Polish elections.
According to him, the simple European voter perceives from this that there is a constant problem with the Polish and Hungarian governments. "There is concrete incitement against the right-wing European governments in the European public opinion," said the Speaker of the House.
When asked if it was a mistake that the Hungarian government helped Ursula von der Leyen in 2019 in the "deal that brought her to power", László Kövér replied that it was sad, but the other options were even worse.
The President of the Parliament responded to the suggestion: isn't it absurd that the salary increase for Hungarian teachers has become dependent on the agreement between Brussels and the Hungarian government, saying that the teacher salary increase is not dependent on the agreement.
"Teachers' wages are still being raised today and will be raised in the future as well. If we get our money from Brussels, then faster, if not, then slower," said the politician.
They also asked whether a politician who values national sovereignty should not support the Ukrainians against the empire-building Russians.
László Kövér raised the question: what if the empire-building policy actually takes place from west to east, and Ukraine is another hopeful province of the Euro-Atlantic Empire? This has at least as much relevance, everyone should decide which reading is more sympathetic to them, he added.
He reminded: the war was started by Russia. That said, Russia has legitimate security needs that it would be a huge mistake to ignore while Russia is the most powerful nuclear power next to the United States.
