David Pressman, the newly appointed ambassador of the USA, whose person alone can be considered a provocation on the part of Joe Biden, has covertly threatened Hungary because our country - along with Turkey - has not yet ratified the NATO accession of Sweden and Finland. He said he hoped there would be no need for pressure in this matter.
If we have such a friend, then there is no need for an enemy - we could say with some malice. But then, it is quite difficult for a Big Brother to become a true good friend.
We have already experienced this in the case of Mark André Goodfriend, who was the temporary charge d'affaires of the American embassy between 2013 and 2014: the Latin expression nomen est omen (the name qualifies) was not really suitable for "Good friend" - since that is what his name means. Rather the opposite.
We have already chewed it up, we have already experienced the real situation: if there is a democratic president in power in the United States, then whoever comes here "of course" immediately interferes - or at least tries to interfere - in our internal affairs and criticizes the government if it is precisely national and conservative.
There is nothing to be surprised by this, especially after the fact that our Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó himself - a real Hungarian man - said in a statement that a democratic ambassador had already arrived in Hungary, even in the 1990s, who entered the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with noble simplicity. , and handed over a paper on which it was stated that the Hungarian government and the parliament should change the text of our basic law in what and where...
Is there anything more to say about this?
Yes, moreover, that the national side moved in a very encouraging way as a result of the Pressman threat: there were those who rejected in an open letter the threatening words of the "Printer", or "Journalist" in another translation, but above all the threatening words of Mr. Nyomásgyakorló Ambassador, some started a petition against the ambassador's expression, and writings were written by public figures and analysts that deeply condemn the ambassador's unacceptable expression (just to mention names: Zoltán Felföldi, Zoltán Kiszely, Sándor Kinga).
And that's okay.
There is an old saying: as the god of giving, so is the god of receiving.
Mr. David Pressman had better learn quickly that this time he has not wandered into a servile country afraid of greatness or wanting to be afraid. Maybe he is used to this based on his career so far, so I have bad news for him: this time he has found his "country".
Here, we Hungarians, together with all our resistance and revolutionary traditions, and sometimes with our hot blood, will teach him what kind of behavior we expect from an ambassador. Whether the bar is American, Russian, Chinese or Tabor Islands. Because we are serious about equality between peoples and countries, in other words democracy.
We mean it.
Just as the Americans were serious when they won their independence from the British who wanted to rule over them.
But that seems like a long time ago...
However, I would like to draw the attention of the Hungarian public to the fact that this 45-year-old politician is a serious, experienced, refined and skillful diplomat. A real challenge!
It will be a tough nut to crack, because behind his smile there is a lot of determination, you can see it on him. The essence of determination: I will defeat Hungary's resistance, I will put them in line.
How many times do I have to quote recently, not only in connection with our "friends" in the EU, the found diary of the prisoner who wrote: save me only from my friends, Lord, I will destroy myself with my enemies.
For us Hungarians, the words of Christ and II. Pope John Paul's words: Do not be afraid!…
