The Prime Minister also talked about inflation, energy prices and the explosion of gas pipelines on the radio on Friday morning, a summary of which Mandiner .
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was a guest of Radio Kossuth on Friday morning. The prime minister said at the beginning of the conversation that there are people who talk about the need to win the war, while Hungary stands for an immediate ceasefire and peace negotiations".
The Prime Minister recalled: "we are a nation of freedom fighters, we also undertook a war in 1956". He reminded us: we don't need to explain what it's like to fight the Russians. At the same time, he said: we fought in 1956 to force a ceasefire and peace negotiations, not because we thought we could defeat Russia.
"Somehow, the occupier must be forced to give up his plans, and this can hardly be achieved through military victory, peace negotiations are necessary," said the Prime Minister.
Viktor Orbán also mentioned that there is a "peace camp", whose members include Pope Francis and Kissinger. According to the Prime Minister, the voice of those who want to achieve peace is getting stronger, and this would also bring economic relief. As he put it:
"as long as the war continues and the West responds with sanctions, neither inflation nor energy prices will decrease."
Speaking about the sanctions, Viktor Orbán said: they were stung, they were badly drafted. "After six months, we have been urging the European Commission to submit a price reduction proposal in addition to the sanctions, but it has not done so, so now there is sanctioned inflation and we are paying a sanctioned surcharge for energy," explained the prime minister. The prices went up because of the bad sanctions, he underlined.
In response to a question, the Prime Minister added: we have only one fighting tactic, namely to exempt Hungary from the sanctions. In the case of all sanctions packages, we exempted ourselves from having a negative impact on the Hungarian energy market. At the same time, he pointed out: although our country exempts itself from some sanctions, if prices in Europe rise, they will drag Hungarian prices down with them. The ultimate solution to high energy prices would be for the EU to abandon its sanctions policy.
The prime minister said: next time, the sanctions will have to be extended in November-December, so Brussels will have the opportunity to correct the mistakes. The Prime Minister also informed us that dissatisfaction is growing, and more and more people are saying that this is not what was promised in Brussels.
Viktor Orbán said that the fact that gas pipelines were blown up is a serious matter. These are acts of terrorism and the state that was involved in this is the terrorist state. "They don't tell me that they can't say what happened," said the prime minister, then added: "but that's the business of the big boys, and they'll investigate what's going on."
What is important to us is that "the last high-capacity pipeline that brings Russian gas from the south to Europe, including Hungary, is the Turkish pipeline. We supply Hungary through this. I would make it clear that if someone blows this up or makes it inoperable, both Hungary and Serbia will consider it a terrorist attack, and we will take action against it anyway," explained the Prime Minister.
Speaking about inflation, the Prime Minister said that inflation should not be viewed idly. Professionally, the fight against inflation has its limits and possibilities, but we must not give up, we must fight against it, because it torments people and families.
"The speculators must be dealt with, everything must be done to transform the sanctions policy, the imposition of new inflation-resulting sanctions must be prevented, so we have options," explained the Prime Minister.
Speaking about the national consultation, Viktor Orbán said that we are in the middle of an international battle. One camp believes in the sanctions policy, while the other camp would change it. At the same time, the Prime Minister pointed out:
Sanctions were introduced in an undemocratic manner. No one was asked about this. Brussels bureaucrats and the European elite decided on these sanctions.
But nowhere in all of Europe, no one from among the people, not in any country, was asked what they thought about this," he said. We always asked people the most important questions.
Viktor Orbán said about migration that Frontex cannot solve border protection because Frontex is a travel agency. We need to be able to protect the border with physical force, and no one can enter without the consent of the given state.
The Prime Minister said that almost 200,000 illegal border crossing attempts took place this year. There are numbers reminiscent of the great migration invasion wave of 2015. The solution would be to protect Serbia's southern border, and there would be the core of the conflict.
The solidarity mechanism actually means that we distribute the poor among ourselves, said the prime minister. This is completely unacceptable and it has always been prevented, he added. There will be no refugee camp here, and no migrants will come here - Viktor Orbán said.
