A traveling exhibition of the masterpieces of folk potters starts. The traveling exhibition aims to present the works of Art Nouveau folk potters, who have been awarded several international prizes, not only at home, but also abroad, including in Turkey and Italy.
Csaba Latorcai, Deputy Minister of Regional Development, explained that the most beautiful and flourishing period of pottery in Kunszentmárton and Mezőtúr is attributed to Kálmán Bozsik and Balázs Badár, respectively. Their ceramics, decorated with Art Nouveau and folk motifs, were in demand all over the continent, as their style met the tastes and needs of Europe at the time, he added at the opening of the traveling exhibition in Mezőtúr.
Csaba Latorcai emphasized that one of the most important efforts of the Government of Hungary is to pass on our cultural heritage to the next generations, and therefore financially supports the realization of the traveling exhibition.
The Government also pays considerable attention to the development of the region as a whole, as Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County has also undergone encouraging development over the past ten years.
In the county, the gross national product per capita has doubled in the past decade, and the number of people in work has increased from 140 to 164,000, the deputy minister added.
More than twenty-one billion forints worth of development was realized in the county, of which six and a half billion forints worth of 662 tenders were submitted by local governments. Csaba Latorcai emphasized that it is a priority government goal to preserve the achievements so far in the period ahead of us, moreover, with the developments that cover the county, city, and district levels ahead, all areas of the country will be completely competitive with all regions of Europe.
