The representative body of the Jászberény municipality has been dissolved, MTI reported, which was informed by the town clerk, Krisztina Baloghné Seres, that eight representatives voted for the proposal to dissolve the fifteen-member body at Monday's extraordinary meeting.
Six members of the Közön Jászberényért Egyesület (including mayor Lóránt Budai), József Gedei (DK) and Tamás Szabó (Fidesz–KDNP) voted for the dissolution of the Jászberény representative body.
Jászberény's website states that the proposal was submitted by József Gedei (DK) and six Fidesz-KDNP municipal representatives - Zoltán Tamás, Donát Balog, Rozália Bohárné Bathó, András Nagy, Tamás Szabó, and Anikó Szatmári. According to the document, Mayor Lóránt Budai raised the issue of dissolution in front of the general public several times in the past period, and also made a proposal on the agenda, which was rejected by the representative body.
Since then, strong differences of opinion between the members of the representative body have continued to grow, mainly due to the so-called Malom project. In addition, the unproductive and unworthy debates following bad presentations resulted in new, bad board decisions or made them impossible, they wrote.
The decisions of the representative body made on the basis of bad proposals have taken the financial and budgetary policy of the municipality in the wrong direction and are hindering the development of the city
- wrote the drafters of the proposal.
Jászberény's secretary confirmed to MTI that in the fall of 2020, Mayor Lóránt Budai also initiated the dissolution of the board, but the inclusion of the proposal on the agenda was not supported at that time.
The local election committee will then call a by-election, and until then, based on the local government law, the mayor and the representative body will carry out their duties with the same authority, Krisztina Baloghné Seres informed.
In the Jászberény representative body, the Közön Jászberényért Egyesület has six representatives - together with the mayor -, Fidesz-KDNP has seven representatives, Mi Hazánk Mozgalom and DK have one each.
