In a long opinion piece, The Wall Street Journal criticized both the US embassy in Budapest and the Biden administration's promotion of the woke ideology.
As it was written, the export of American culture has long been one of the biggest soft-powers of the USA. However, according to them, the Biden administration promotes the woke ideology instead of American culture, reads the Mandiner article.
Amazing things were reported in the opinion piece:
"In order to 'promote diversity and inclusion', the Ministry of Foreign Affairs funds 'drag theater performances' in Ecuador through cultural grants." According to official documents, the purpose of the grants is to support the implementation of US foreign policy goals and objectives, promote national interests and strengthen national security.
It is unclear how drag queen performances enhance US national security or advance our interests
– not to mention why American taxes should pay for all of this. Meanwhile, a Chinese consortium controls Ecuador's two largest copper mines. Drag theater does a lot of good when we don't have enough rez for basic production."
How does Hungary come here?
"Another outrageous example of woke virtue signaling by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the US Embassy in Budapest tweeted a 'Who said it?' quiz, in which Hungarians were asked to guess whether various statements were made by Vladimir Putin or a Hungarian politician," they wrote.
"A 'downright barbaric ideology is gaining ground,'" began one quote, "which originates from American universities and which denies all the value that humanity has created." This allegedly vile statement, with which many Americans would agree, was made by the Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary – a thought crime that, according to the US Embassy, makes him a global pariah.”
It was nailed down:
these are elementary school antics, not projections of American power.
If the US has problems with foreign leaders, it should deal with them through mature diplomatic means. Instead, our diplomatic efforts under President Biden, a self-proclaimed foreign policy expert, could be summed up as 'the one I don't like is Putin.'"
They added that Hungary strengthened NATO's eastern flank with military deployments after Russia invaded Ukraine, and this year took in masses of Ukrainian refugees. However, they pointed out that instead of encouraging Hungary to continue strengthening these efforts, the Biden administration ridicules its leaders for their rightful aversion to the woke ideology of American universities.
