The head of the Prime Minister's Office said that the new portfolio will be headed by Csaba Lantos At the same time, the Ministry of Technology and Industry (TIM) will be abolished, and its tasks will be distributed among other ministries. In response to a question, Gergely Gulyás hinted that László Palkovics, the recently resigned head of TIM, will continue to help the government's work in some form. However, he did not reveal any details, only stating that, in addition to higher education, he plays an important role in defense and vehicle industry innovation. He also mentioned that if László Palkovics had stayed, the energy ministry would have been created alongside TIM.
According to the head of the prime minister's office, the new ministry, which takes over most of the powers of the energy agency, is absolutely necessary in the current crisis-stricken period. The mandate of László Palkovics ends today, the new ministry will start operating on December 1, so the competent committees of the Parliament will hear Csaba Lantos in the next few days. From TIM, industrial affairs will be transferred to Minister of Economic Development Márton Nagy, higher education to Minister of Culture and Innovation János Csák, and transport to Minister of Construction and Investment János Lázár. Paks will remain at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Gergely Gulyás when asked by Origo.
