In order to reach an agreement with the European Commission, Hungary has done everything possible to fulfill the seventeen previously negotiated commitments that would allow the withdrawal of EU funds by the deadline - stated Justice Minister Judit Varga in Brussels today.

Speaking to Hungarian journalists before the meeting in Brussels of the ministers responsible for general affairs of the European Union member states, Judit Varga emphasized: Hungary is in an intensive negotiation process, in-depth work with the European Commission, constructive and professional dialogue is taking place between Brussels and Budapest.

He highlighted

the Hungarian Parliament has been working on the agreement since September and has further plans on its table. On Saturday, Hungary will inform the Brussels body about the work done in an official letter, the Minister of Justice informed.

In relation to the rule of law conditionality procedure initiated against Hungary, he said that the process could take on the character of a "trial trial", since - according to his words - it could be an example of forward-looking dialogue, a symbol of unity and a confirmation of solidarity. He warned: at the same time, the procedure can easily become hostage to different political agendas. As he said, this must be prevented, as it can undermine the unity of the European Union at a time when Europe is facing unprecedented challenges.

He stated:

Hungary regards the negotiation process as a "test procedure for building trust", because it acts by assuming responsibility and not sparing human and financial resources.

Hungary expects its partners to also show a responsible European attitude in order to finally deal with the tasks that are really important, he underlined.
He emphasized: Hungary has considered all commitments and proposals that can contribute to the efficiency of the use of EU funds. The Hungarian measures are exemplary in Europe and can serve as an example for other member states, added the Minister of Justice.
