The oil found in Vecsés is of very good quality. There is no water, paraffin or gas in it, which is a very good sign - said Csaba Szlahó, mayor of Vecsés, when asked by Magyar Hírlap.
The research started years ago, - the mayor continued, because Mol commissioned surveyors to survey all possible petroleum resources. They primarily examined the soil and came to the conclusion that the outskirts of Vecsés contain two or three locations that might be worth drilling. In this case, oil was found already at the first location, as the drilling took place. Drilling started in the summer, and they originally wanted to drill to a depth of 2,700 meters, but they found oil at 2,500 meters. It became clear very quickly that it was a rich section. It is known that there are not many wells in the country that can produce 600 barrels of oil per day, of which one barrel is 159 liters. At the moment, this is the third largest well, which will most likely be developed to at least 1,000 barrels.
More drilling is planned. Next year, they will start another exploratory drilling at a different location and, as now, they will drill down to the deeper layers in the hope of oil. These are areas not far away, about a kilometer, where drilling continues. In addition, there is another location where the ideas and processes are also similar. For the time being, it is not possible to know what oil layers are there, but if the assumptions are confirmed, the Vecsés oil field will be the largest in the whole country.
The signs are encouraging, as the oil is of good quality, as there is no water, paraffin or gas in it, which is a very good sign. The fewer things that have to be separated from the raw material, the better the quality of the oil. After the separation, it is taken away with tankers, which does not affect or affect the population in any way. The oil goes from the city to Százhalombatta with three tankers a day.
It is not yet known what effect the oil extraction will have on the life of the city. What is certain is that there will be no direct influence on everyday life. Economically, the city will not become more prosperous, it will not change the current crisis caused by the war. For the country, however, this sensation definitely has a positive return, as this well, which can still be expanded, will provide five percent of the national production. Although it replaces depleting supplies, it will not completely solve our basic energy dependence - concluded the mayor of Vecsés.
