The response to the four-minute confrontation was only hissing, mocking smiles and angry shouting, but not a single rebuttal.
Polish MEP Ryszard Legutko, who was otherwise not known for his bluntness, decided to take a bold step, as he recently explained that Europe's political mainstream is actually implementing a communist agenda, the result of which is that Europe has now isolated itself from its own traditions.
Member of the European Parliament Balázs Hidvégi praised the philosopher as follows:
"The European Parliament was just about to celebrate itself on the occasion of its 70th anniversary. However, Polish representative Ryszard Legutko, a professor at the Jagiellonian University, confronted the left-wing politicians with their own destruction with ruthless honesty. He immediately received boos, mocking smiles and angry shouts. Only one thing not: a refutation.”

Two minutes of bitter truth follows. And this bitter truth is that the European Parliament has caused a lot of damage to Europe. He sent the false message that he represents the European demos. However, there is not and will never be a European demos. The Parliament infected Europe with shameless partisanship. And this contagion has become so contagious that it has spread to other institutions, such as the European Commission. The European Parliament has given up on its basic task of representing the people. Instead, he became a machine implementing the so-called European project, alienating millions of voters.
The European Parliament has become a political tool of the left to enforce its monopoly with fierce intolerance against all dissenting views. No matter how many times the word 'diversity' is repeated, diversity is slowly becoming an endangered species in the European Union, and especially here in this Chamber.
The European Parliament is only a quasi-parliament because it rejects the fundamental principle of parliamentarism, namely accountability. Let me remind you that the representative is elected by the voters, and he must be able to give them a number. But this is not the case in the European Union. It is absurd to think that Spanish, German, French, etc. representatives who are accountable to their own voters at home can dictate something to, say, Hungarian society or any other society, to whom they cannot account, and who therefore cannot hold them accountable.
Call it what you will, but it is not a democracy. In summary: the European Parliament represents the non-existent demos, it works for projects that ignore reality and laws. It avoids accountability, turns its back on millions of people, and serves the interests of a single political trend. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. After all that, ladies and gentlemen, that's all for me."
