The Kyiv Independent conducted an interview with the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine, Olga Stefanisyna
The politician said: the fact that Ukraine was granted candidate status so quickly was primarily in the interest of the European Union, as they wanted to signal that they are indeed an important player in the game of the great powers. According to Stefanisina, Ukraine is an "attractive partner" for the EU because of its heavy industry and agriculture.
In the paper, a separate paragraph is devoted to Hungarian-Ukrainian relations, primarily focusing on the situation of Hungarian minorities abroad. Among the commitments made by Ukraine towards the EU is the settlement of the situation of national minorities, but these commitments contain very few specifics.
