The world's smallest nativity scene, barely the size of a needlepoint, was unveiled on Monday in the United Kingdom, the BBC news portal reported.
The image was hand-engraved into a piece of gold the size of a pinhead by a Birmingham engraver, Graham Short. Visitors can view the work under a microscope at the St. Lawrence Church in Northfield.
For his work, the artist uses a medical microscope and also takes medication to slow down his heartbeat.
"I'm actually working between heartbeats," explained Short, who also regularly injects himself with a Botox-like injection near his eyes to prevent possible muscle twitches.
"I know that what I do is a bit extreme," he said, but he also emphasized that his work was well liked and received many congratulations.
The miniature nativity scene was exhibited together with several nativity scenes from many parts of the world.
Short previously immortalized the image of Queen Elizabeth on a pin, which later sold for 100,000 pounds (47 million forints).
