Dr. Péter Szilágyi, the Deputy State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for national policy, gave a welcome speech at the presentation of the new developments at the gates of the Hungarian Community Hall in Gömörpéterfala on December 7.
In his speech, Péter Szilágyi highlighted that the founder of the Upland Dalia School, Gábor Kopecsni, was awarded by the Hungarian Ethnographic Society with the distinction of the best volunteer collectors.
He emphasized that, at work or at school, one must unwaveringly persevere in regularity in terms of learning and repetition. This is a place for devotional and varied practice.
"Enthusiasm maintained over the years is paying off. On the path of the Ancestors to Ourselves - we can read the motto carved on the upper side of the ornate wooden gate at the entrance. It sums up the essence clearly and simply: the shaping and identity-forming possibility of national consciousness and connection to ancestors," said Szilágyi.
He emphasized that our ancestors left us not only traditions, but also songs, dances, innumerable creations created by artisanal processes, and countless opportunities to meaningfully experience community life and Hungarian identity. The renovated barn serves as an excellent community space for all these activities.
As part of the ceremony, the renovated and converted barn at the gate of the community center was handed over. In the future, this outdoor, closed community space will serve as the venue for the martial arts school's daily training, dance halls, exhibitions, concerts, performances, and barn theaters.
The first major community event was the double concert given by Imre Vadkerti and his friends to the delight of many. This Advent evening, the auditorium of the new barn was filled twice.
Owner Gábor Kopecsni, head of the Dalia School in the Highlands, said that they had almost a year of work behind them, during which they turned an old, crumbling barn into a wonderful community space. As he recalled, the Hungarian Community House was handed over in May in the presence of the State Secretary for National Policy János Árpád Potápi.
"The Hungarian Community House wants to be a small bastion of the Hungarians of the region, the Highlands and the Carpathian Basin here in Gömörpéterfala.
We have been trying to fill it with life ever since. And if we say so, then this small square wants to be the porta's sanctuary. It's a physical, spiritual and spiritual temple, the purpose of which is to get as much sweat as possible during the training sessions, in order to preserve Hungarianness," said Gábor Kopecsni.
He emphasized that all of this was possible because the government of Hungary, the State Secretariat for National Policy of the Prime Minister's Office, supported their ideas.
The year 2022 was the year of the Nation of Action in national politics.
"We feel responsible for each other and help each other by any means possible, and these value-creating efforts add up.
It's a pleasure to give financial support when the circle of implementers is also an active, self-sacrificing community," said Péter Szilágyi. He stated that it was good to see that this was realized here, in Gömörpéterfala.
