The political agreement has been concluded, inter-company negotiations between Qatar Energy and MVM can begin, Péter Szijjártó Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced in his live video.
Qatar is the country with the world's third largest natural gas reserves, and ranks second in the LNG export world ranking, Péter Szijjártó reminded. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade added that the oil and natural gas price cap does not help, it only further hurts consumers and the economy.
He emphasized that it is important to negotiate with new countries, Qatar will export a much larger amount of LNG gas from 2026 than it currently does.
According to his announcement, a political agreement has been reached, and intercompany negotiations between Qatar Energy and MVM can begin. He explained that the European Union is needed for this, because infrastructural developments are needed in the countries around Hungary, if Croatia expands its capacities, then within three years we can also benefit.
Aviation cooperation between the two countries and the ongoing war in Ukraine were also discussed at the meeting. He pointed out that both of them condemn the war, that peace can only be achieved through negotiations.
He noted that it is important for the European Union to strengthen its relations with Qatar, which is why they are pushing for the establishment of the visa-free agreement as soon as possible.
