ATV Start's guest was László Varju, a member of the DK, shadow minister of energy and utilities, who was interviewed by András Kósa, a senior staff member of Szabad Europa, and Emília Krug, the presenter of ATV. The presenter was András Somos.
András Kósa started by asking whether László Varju "used to struggle with text comprehension difficulties". The DK representative responded to this by saying "I think I will solve this problem".
Kósa added to this that "In the case of György Matolcsy, this did not really work out.
After all, György Matolcsy talked about the fact that there are HUF 20,000 billion in money that the Hungarian people keep either in pillowcases or in zero-interest deposits. And if the state launched programs such as green bonds and others that could be used to attract them, even to finance the national debt, the state would do well and the people would also do well, because their money would earn interest and not be eaten away by inflation." – recalled the central bank governor's words by the senior employee of Free Europe.
Then he added:
"you managed to deduce from this that the state wants to stretch people's savings. But you are an economist."
Apparently, the opposition representative could not react to this. It took a few seconds for him to speak, and even then only "what's the question", before Kósa tested his comprehension skills again.
As is known, the central bank also filed a complaint against László Varju for spreading scaremongering. In their complaint, they stated that László Varju, by deliberately misinterpreting the words of the speech of the party representative György Matolcsy to the economic committee at the Democratic Coalition's press conference on Friday, made false statements that jeopardize trust in financial stability, they said.
