The Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of the Holy Family on December 30 this year, which is traditionally held on the last Sunday of Christmas.
Since Sunday already falls on the new year, the holiday is held on the 6th day of the eighth of Christmas, announcing to the whole world: the family - which consists of father, mother and child - is the solid foundation of the nation and society.
The respect for the holy family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph goes back several centuries, which dates back to the XIII. It was introduced by Pope Leo in 1893. XV. In 1921, Pope Benedict prescribed the celebration of the Holy Family for the entire world church.
The Memorial Day, part of the Christmas celebration circle, calls the believing community to further reflect on the mystery of Christmas, highlighting the importance of the family, setting the Holy Family of Nazareth as an example for all Christian families.
This Sunday in the churches, as part of the Holy Mass, the spiritual fathers pray for the families and bless the children in front of the symbols of Bethlehem set up in the church. Families who let God into their families overcome difficulties with joint strength.
Mothers can confidently turn to Mary, the heavenly mother. The figure of József, the head of the family, radiates strength and security, although his identity remains hidden in the Gospel. This hiddenness, the quiet and deep, unconditional trust in God can be the virtue of family men.
St. II. According to John Paul, the family that prays together stays together.
Prayer for families
set the Holy Family before us
as a shining example Help us to follow in their footsteps,
to practice the virtues of family life,
to always remain one in love,
and thus to rejoice in your
eternal reward in your father's house.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
