As you can read, the Pope Emeritus, XVI. Benedict finished his earthly journey on December 31, 2022 and returned home to the House of the Heavenly Father. His funeral ceremony will be led by Pope Francis on January 5, 2023, to which pilgrims from Hungary will also come. Cardinal Péter Erdő, Primate of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops' Conference; It is represented by bishop András Veres, president of the MKPK, and Tamás Tóth, secretary of the board.
On Monday, January 9, 2023, starting at 6 p.m., the Hungarian Catholic Bishops' Conference will commemorate the emeritus pope with a mass in the St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest. The main celebrant of the funeral mass will be Cardinal Péter Erdő, Primate and Archbishop.
