The Lynx infantry fighting vehicle program has reached its latest intermediate goal: low-intensity initial production (LRIP) has begun for the first customer, NATO member Hungary, according to Rheinmetall's announcement .
According to the German military industrial company, the program for the world's infantry fighting vehicle, called the Hiúz It was also announced that full-speed production, or FRP, will start in July 2023 in Zalaegerszeg.

The announcement reminds us: in September 2020, the Hungarian Ministry of Defense signed a contract with Rheinmetall for the supply of combat vehicles and related services for more than two billion euros, worth about HUF 800 billion at the current exchange rate. In the first production phase, Hungary will take delivery of 46 Lynx infantry fighting vehicles and command vehicles, as well as nine Bergepanzer 3 Büffel armored tracked ambulances built on the chassis of the Leopard 2 tanks already in service in Tata, all of which were still manufactured in Germany. In the second phase, the Hungarian joint venture will produce an additional 172 Lynxes and combat support vehicles. The first such vehicles are planned to be delivered in 2024. In addition to the armored fighting vehicles, the contract also includes the delivery of ammunition and logistics services, as well as 16 special trucks.
