The film adaptation is based on Sándor Petőfi's epic parody of the same name and will be shown on the Duna channel on January 22.
The MTI announcement quotes Gábor Kálomista, the film's producer, who said: the film, commissioned and financed by MTVA and produced by MEGAFILM Service, faithfully follows the original story and text, while combining Petőfi's linguistic inventiveness and epic parody with cinematic style parody, which not only captures the humor of the literary work strengthens it, but also makes it fresh and usable for today's viewers.
The summary recalls that Petőfi's comic epic was last made into a film more than five decades ago. In the 1965 direction by Éva Zsurzs, the work was brought to life with classic film tools. However, Megafilm's work approaches the story in a special way: the creators did wink at westerns and musical films, but they also made sure to adapt the work in a dignified way, but still be spectacular, to which professional stuntmen also contributed.
Director Linda Dombrovszky and her co-creators have dressed Petőfi's heroic poem parody in an exciting outfit: the original text has remained, but visually they have created a special, novel visual world. It is interesting that the songs in the film are all Petőfi poems, set to music by György Ferenczi, the announcement states.
Fejenagy climbing down the rope of the church tower and freeing himself was designed by Csaba Pindroch. The locality also featured in the title in this film is a timeless, Western-Eastern settlement that never existed, where the storyteller, who arrives as a stranger from the Wild West, begins the well-known story by sitting on his chopper, they said.
"Joining the Petőfi bicentenary on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the poet's birth, we pay tribute to his life and greatness with a television premiere. For the public media, it is important to remember our greats who shaped our history, those who made a lasting impression for the country, for national unity, and for freedom," quotes Dániel Papp, CEO of MTVA, in the announcement.
Director Linda Dombrovszky said: just like the screening, the filming was also very good, because The Hammer of the Village is Petőfi's well-loved narrative poem, it contains everything that makes our everyday life exciting: intrigue, intrigue, intrigue, love, and Petőfi's linguistic humor in the film, the genre of parody further strengthens it.
In the Helység hammer, viewers can see Zsolt Zayzon, Antal Cserna, Tibor Szervét, Anna Györgyi, Viktor Nagy, István Hunyadkürti, Márko Ember and Gabi Gubás in addition to Csaba Pindroch.
The film is produced by Gábor Kálomista and Dorottya Helmeczy, directed by Linda Dombrovszky, dramaturg György Somogyi, cinematographer Dávid Hartung. The editor is Levente Pap, the composer is Bálint Bolcsó, the songwriter is György Ferenczi, the announcement reads.
The local hammer will be on display on the Danube on Sunday, January 22, from 8:30 p.m.
