The European Parliament would bring another area under the competence of the Member States, forestry, under EU supervision. The proposal provokes lively protests among the Polish forestry authorities, who warn of serious consequences if the plan is implemented.
On January 24, the largest committee of the European Parliament, the 88-member Environmental Protection, Public Health and Food Safety Committee (ENVI), held a meeting. The EP proposal to transfer forestry and forest protection from national to EU competences was positively reviewed. In other words, in the future, Brussels bureaucrats would decide on the fate of the member states' forests.
Polish opposition MEPs also voted for the proposal, while members of the government opposed it. According to Anna Zalewska, representative of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, this is actually another covert step towards the "federalization of the union" and at the same time "an attack against Polish forestry".
Polish officials sounded the alarm the day after the vote in Brussels, drawing attention to the dangers of the proposal, which is harmful to nature and threatens the Polish economy and sovereignty.
According to Polish opposition opinions, the reaction of government officials was exaggerated, since the commission's opinion "is not binding". However, as Kubica pointed out, the European Commission usually refers to the decisions of the European Parliament in its decisions as expressing the will of the European citizens, while the overwhelming majority of Poles oppose the initiative.
Almost 30 percent of the territory of Poland is covered by forest, which is about three times the area of Belgium. Forests are an important part of Polish national wealth. They are well cared for and almost 80 percent of them are state-owned, which is unmatched internationally.
In justifying the proposal, the European Parliament refers to the fight against climate change and global warming and nature protection.

One is not surprised that the Polish opposition MEPs also voted for the proposal, while the government members opposed it. We are also well aware of this anti-national attitude. However, what is surprising is that this EP proposal, according to which forestry and forest protection should be transferred from national hands to EU competence, i.e. the forests in the member states should be decided in Brussels in the future, has so far only been met by the Poles. So far, there have been no reports of protests from other member states. Are there no forests worth treasure elsewhere?
The cost of inattention can be high, because this proposal also clearly shows the EU's objective to quietly take over the power over the community of sovereign states, for which the left-liberal scumbags make good use of the Alamo proposals they proclaim to be generous and well-intentioned.
