The representatives of the Fidesz European Parliament (EP) take a position in favor of the development of a European peace plan instead of the continuation of the failed sanctions policy and the further delivery of weapons, stated Kinga Gál and Tamás Deutsch, the leaders of the Fidesz European Parliament group in Strasbourg, speaking to Hungarian journalists on Wednesday.
" We do not accept any training from any EU institution, " said Deutsch
Gál Kinga, the president of the Fidesz EP representative group, drew attention to the fact that although the damage is getting worse and the victims are more and more, there is no talk of peace in the circles of European decision-makers.
The leaders of the EU institutions, including Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Parliament, are calling for further arms deliveries and joint arms procurement. With arms deliveries, Europe could drift into war, risking a world war, said Gál Kinga.
"In order to save human lives and prevent further destruction, peace must be created. There can only be one solution to the conflict: a cease-fire is needed and peace negotiations must begin," he said. .
Tamás Deutsch, the head of the Fidesz EP delegation, said that among the pro-war, sanctions and arms delivery voices, the Hungarian is the only pro-peace attitude. He emphasized that Hungary is not alone in Europe with its position, it represents the same pro-peace approach as the Vatican.
Instead of the failed policy of sanctions and arms shipments, it is necessary for the European Union to take active diplomatic steps for a cease-fire, peace negotiations, and then peace. This requires the creation of a European peace plan, said Tamás Deutsch.
Regarding the corruption scandal affecting the European Parliament, he said: it is clear that corruption in Brussels permeates the functioning of the institutions of the European Union at a systemic level. Every detail of the scandal must be revealed - underlined Tamás Deutsch, and then added: so far, no meaningful action has been taken by any EU institution. For example, the President of the European Parliament did not consider the Fidesz MEPs' proposal to introduce the Hungarian asset declaration system found suitable by the European Commission for MEPs to be justified. According to Roberta Metsola, the EP's asset declaration system is completely satisfactory, she informed.
As long as the EU institutions did not wrap up the Brussels corruption case, "we will not accept any training from any EU institution regarding corruption," added the head of the delegation.
