On Thursday, the European Parliament held a debate on the principle of loyal cooperation, accusing the member states of not being cooperative enough with regard to the activities of the Pegasus investigation committee, writes the European Parliament group of Fidesz in a statement sent to Magyar Hírlap.
The announcement highlights that Ernő Schaller-Baross, Fidesz EP representative, said:
The European Parliament goes outside the law when it investigates national security issues, creates a report, or even organizes a visit to Hungary.
According to the Fidesz representative, in the absence of authority, it is clear that there are only political motivations for the fact that the parliament wants to investigate secret service cases.
Ernő Schaller-Baross added: it is sad that the European Parliament is now trying to use the principle of loyal cooperation to make up for its lack of competence, and to hide under the guise of legality that it is acting in a way that violates the treaties, they write in the statement.
Loyal cooperation burdens the institutions in the direction of the member states to the same extent as vice versa. More respect for treaties, more respect for nation-states - concluded Ernő Schaller-Baross, according to the announcement.
