Prime Minister Viktor Orbán participated in the video conference preparing for this week's EU summit together with Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, and the Prime Ministers of Greece, Slovenia, Slovakia and Latvia, Bertalan Havasi, head of the Prime Minister's Press Office, informed MTI on Tuesday.

The war in Ukraine and economic issues: European competitiveness, the state of the internal market, and energy issues are on the agenda of the Thursday-Friday EU summit.

Viktor Orbán stated at the video conference,

Hungary belongs to the peace camp, therefore, in connection with the war, it continues to call for an immediate ceasefire and the start of peace negotiations.

With regard to Ukraine, he underlined that during the EU negotiations, the attention of the Kyiv leadership must always be drawn to the fact that Ukraine, which is applying for EU membership, cannot ignore the rights of the minorities living in its territory, such as the Hungarians.

Viktor Orbán emphasized: Hungary does not stand for blocking in world trade matters, but for interconnection and the development of connections.
