Zoltán Czegő, poet, writer, publicist, received the Hungarian state award presented by the President of the Republic of Hungary on March 15 at the Consulate General in Csikszereda on Friday.
The recognition was given by András Beke Mihály, temporary charge d'affaires, first subordinate consul, who emphasized in his greeting that the desire for freedom is the compass of our creative actions. Freedom itself, for some, means unrestricted action and free speech. He added: the creative scribe, poet, writer holds the compass, which is a serious, overriding moral command, not forgetting that we are not only responsible for the present. He emphasized: in difficult times, there is a particular need for exemplary personalities, scribes who, following the compass of freedom, help navigate the increasingly complicated world, since the fate of nations is never shaped by blind luck, but by scribes who yearn for freedom.
Zoltán Czegő was born in Bucharest on June 18, 1938, in a migrant worker family from Székely with many children.
