This year, too, the tender for the support of small-value investments will be announced for the local nationalities municipalities, the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for church and nationalities relations announced on Thursday at the awarding ceremony of the Serbian nationalities study scholarships held at the Nikola Tesla Serbian Public Education Center in Budapest.
Miklós Soltész announced that the tender is being announced for the fourth time, and the available budget is HUF 630 million. Applicants can win a maximum of HUF 5 million. Support can be obtained, for example, for painting a community center, tidying up an office, or purchasing equipment.
He said that the form of support was introduced during the coronavirus epidemic, and in the past three years they were able to distribute more than HUF one billion among 307 settlements and 761 applicants.
Miklós Soltész said that the call for tenders will be published on April 5.
At the ceremony, the state secretary handed over the nationalities scholarship to four students of the Serbian education center, which he said was introduced twelve years ago and so far more than 340 students have received it, 71 this year.
According to Miklós Soltész, the scholarship also encourages students to serve both the Hungarian and Serbian communities.
Those present were greeted by Jovanka Lásztity, director of the Nikola Tesla Serbian Public Education Center. He spoke about the fact that more and more of their students are receiving the nationality scholarship.
With the scholarship, the government supports the further education of ethnic students with the best academic results and who are also active for the community. The nationalities study scholarship is paid by the government for two years to young people studying in nationalities schools.
