The unity of three things is necessary in the school, the unity of the student, the teacher and the parent, President of the Republic Katalin Novák said on Saturday at the 23rd Scientific Student Circles. At the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the Carpathian Basin Conference in Gödöllő.
He explained: we need a teacher who listens to the student, puts him in the center, and works for the long-term interests of the student. We need students who complement their talents with diligence, as well as parents who are there for their children and teachers. This triple bond must not be broken either by asserting interests or by incorrect regulation, he emphasized.
The President of the Republic emphasized that in the age of artificial intelligence, a good school is one that preserves the old, national, traditional cultural values and uses the new, technology, modern knowledge and methods. The good school that educates progressively and educates conservatively at the same time. We need such schools in Hungary as well, he pointed out .He drew attention to the Stipendium Peregrinum, which gives talented students in higher education the opportunity to study abroad at the world's best universities.
As he said, we can remain good Hungarians even if we travel the world, if we gain experience in other parts of the world and expand our knowledge there. It's a different feeling to marvel at the richness of the Carpathian Basin after returning from other parts of the world, he pointed out .He said that it is currently possible to apply for component A of the scholarship, which can help with admission processes, language tests, and travel costs, among other things.
The President of the Republic also spoke about the importance of asking questions, looking for and finding answers. As he said, asking questions is difficult, and if someone dares to ask, that in itself shows courage, but it is also a great thing if someone hears and listens to the answers.
