Hungary will not support Ukraine's integration into either the European Union or NATO until the previously existing and taken-off rights of the Hungarian national community are returned, said the Secretary of State for Bilateral Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Wednesday on the current channel M1.

Tamás Menczer highlighted:

they are blocking Ukraine's EU and NATO integration because since 2015 they have continuously taken away the existing, acquired rights of the Hungarian national community. In education, culture, the press and other areas of life, the Hungarian language cannot be used as before

he underlined.

The Hungarian position remains the same, and a unanimous position is needed in the integration process, both with regard to the EU and NATO, he noted.

He also said that the most important thing is to avoid a conflict between Russia, which is a nuclear power, and the world's strongest military alliance, NATO. This is equivalent to the Third World War, which must be avoided at all costs, he emphasized.

He pointed out: in the event of a third world war and nuclear escalation, not only will they lose, but we will all perish.

He confirmed that one year before the deadline, Hungary will reach the 2 percent GDP ratio required by NATO in terms of defense expenditures. Within this, the proportion of developments has already reached the 20 percent level. This is only true for nine NATO member states, which shows how reliable a military ally Hungary is, he concluded.

The State Secretary was asked about the fact that Finland also joined the proceedings initiated at the European Union court due to the Hungarian Child Protection Act, on the side of the European Commission.

Tamás Menczer pointed out:

Regarding Finland and Sweden, the Hungarian position is that we want to continue building bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect, and this is a fundamental condition for Hungarian support during NATO accession.

The Finns were supported by Hungary and had already joined the military alliance. The fact that they then joined the lawsuit against Hungary shows that "our Finnish friends still have a lot to learn when it comes to fairness." To complain until I achieve something, and then immediately turn your back, that's not what a decent person does, they issued a certificate not about us, but about themselves - assessed the state secretary. He noted: all of this is presumably not independent of the fact that the Finnish governing parties lost the elections.

He stated:

Hungarian children will be protected, no matter how many join the lawsuit.

There is still a debate in connection with the Swedes, he indicated, adding:

they would still expect some reassuring sentences and gestures in the future that they would like to cooperate with us on the basis of mutual respect within the federal system.

The state secretary said about the role of China and the possible blockade: Hungary supports peace and China has a peace plan, which is certainly worthy of attention and support.

From an economic point of view, it is definitely important to avoid blocking, for example because Western car factories need Eastern batteries. Regarding Hungary, it is important that last year 48 percent of the investments arriving here were from the East and 42 percent from the West, Tamás Menczer pointed out.
