The personality of Márton Gyöngyösi is particularly undesirable in Jewish circles, and Mazsihisz declared eight years ago that it does not wish to engage in dialogue with Jobbik, and this decision made eight years ago is still valid today, András Heisler said.
The president of the Jewish Federation said all this after David Pressman, the ambassador of the United States in Budapest, organized a festive dinner on the occasion of Pesach, at which Márton Gyöngyösi, who previously advocated the listing of Jews, was present, as well as the president of Jobbik - Conservatives and a member of the European Parliament.
Mazsihisz continues to not engage in any kind of dialogue with Jobbik, and Gyöngyösi is considered an undesirable person in Jewish circles
- András Heisler, the chairman of Mazsihisz, reacted to the fact that the chairman of Jobbik - Conservatives and an MEP representative also participated in the Seder evening dinner given by the American ambassador David Pressman.
told Mazsihisz.hu : an invitation from the US ambassador is considered an honor, so he felt obliged to accept the invitation. However, he added: he did not know in advance who would be present at the dinner, after all, it is not appropriate for an invitee to ask the inviter for a guest list, and in diplomatic life, invitations are usually sensitive.
As he put it, he only found out on the spot that, according to the seating order, the chairman of Jobbik, Márton Gyöngyösi, was seated opposite him.
To the right of András Heisler sat writer György Dragomán, to his left, i.e. at the head of the table, David Pressman, and across from him was actor Ervin Nagy. According to him, the president of Mazsihisz was surprised by Gyöngyösi's presence, but he did not want to cause a scandal by getting up at the beginning of the evening and leaving the inviting party, because the president of Mazsihisz cannot insult the US ambassador. In any case, he does not consider it faultless that he was not informed in advance about Gyöngyösi's participation.
