The ultimate goal is "to create the foundations for the long-term, independent and successful development of our country," he emphasized.
The system of international diplomacy has recently eroded to a large extent, and instead "some countries are imposing their own rules", Putin noted.
"Our partners, or we can say, our former partners, in some countries are maniacally destroying the legal framework and communication channels, trying to impose their views and the so-called rules on everyone. What are the rules? (…) No one saw them"
he declared.
“They write something under the blanket and they themselves do something under the blanket. We will not hide under the covers with them. But we won't follow their rules either."
At the same time, Russia does not want to go into "isolation" and remains ready to cooperate fairly with friendly countries, Putin explained.
We will expand pragmatic, equal, mutually beneficial, exclusively partnership relations with the friendly countries of Eurasia, Africa and Latin America.
He noted that Russia has many like-minded supporters in the countries of the collective West, including the United States.
"Yet the elites behave differently. But you and I know that the elites of these countries do not always pursue policies that serve the interests of their own people. This will backfire on them," he warned.
