Moreover, Ukraine allegedly does not even know about the mission, even though Pope Francis himself announced it.
Sky News reports that a Ukrainian official, who requested anonymity, commented on Pope Francis' claim that he is participating in a peace mission to the Vatican aimed at ending the war. The Holy Father also spoke about this with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Budapest, during the papal visit.
An official close to the president's office told CNN: “Ukrainian President Zelensky has not agreed to any such discussions on behalf of Ukraine.
If negotiations are taking place, they are happening without our blessing (?), without our knowledge."
As a reminder: the Pope told reporters earlier that the mission is still ongoing, but it has not yet been made public.
