Italian conservative politicians have spoken out against the smearing of Christian symbols after the European Parliament (EP) gave the opportunity to hold an exhibition containing an openly anti-Christian provocation.
The works of the Swedish photographer Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin were exhibited in the Brussels headquarters of the EU body, several of which depict Jesus in the company of LGBTQ people under the banner of equality, reports Magyar Nemzet .
One of the images that evoked a great response, for example, shows the disciples surrounding Jesus in sado-masochistic clothing. In addition, Malin Björk, the Swedish member of the European Parliament who supports the exhibition
he also chose this provocative work as the illustration for the invitations sent to his colleagues.
Despite the fact that the Italian politicians made it known to the EP leadership in many ways that they do not tolerate blasphemous content, the exhibition was organized anyway.
They called it unfortunate the painful fact that
today's most persecuted religion, Christianity, has now become the object of slander and ridicule even in high-ranking European institutions.
The creator was not at all bothered by the multitude of criticisms, and even expressed his satisfaction. He explained that the message of his provocative work is that Jesus shows love even to those who died of AIDS.
