Europe has begun an unprecedented arms export to Ukraine, directly dragging itself into the war conflict. What was considered a red line recently, the British and the Dutch are creating an "international fighter jet coalition" to support the Ukrainians with fighter jets.

Until the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the European Union - based on the experiences of the Second World War - strove to promote and maintain peace, and did everything to avoid or reduce the chances of war conflicts arising on its territory. This decades-long practice was overwritten by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Europe has started an unprecedented arms export for the benefit of Ukraine, thereby dragging itself directly into the war conflict, Századvég says in a statement.

According to Századvég's statement, the European Union has approached European arms exports with special responsibility for many decades. However, the Russian-Ukrainian war and the doubling of global arms exports overrode all of this.

Position No. 944 of the European Union, adopted on December 8, 2008 , establishes this responsibility and stipulates that the definition of common rules for the control of the export of military technology and equipment is justified. Accordingly, the arms trade treaty adopted by the UN was established in 2013. Less than a decade later, however, this multi-decade will of the EU was broken by the Russian-Ukrainian war, the main beneficiary of which was the international arms and military industry.

Századvég pointed out: European arms exports have increased by 50 percent in the last five years alone, and Ukraine has become the third largest receiving market for global exports. No one sees the end of the war yet, while arms exports reach further record highs.

Fighter jets for Ukraine! - London and The Hague are already ringing the bell

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte have agreed to create an "international fighter jet coalition" to support Ukraine in the war. The two heads of government announced this on Tuesday, at the summit of the Council of Europe in Reykjavík, Iceland.

According to the plans, London and The Hague will make available to Kiev their American-developed F-16 military aircraft, which are of older development - but perfectly suited for combat maneuvers.
