Ukrainian politics must know that the entire Hungarian nation stands behind the Transcarpathian Hungarians, the Hungarian state will not give up under any pressure to protect the interests of the Hungarians there, because there is no separate cross-border and intra-border Hungarian case, said László Kövér in Budapest on Friday.
In his opening speech at the Forum of Hungarian Representatives of the Carpathian Basin (KMKF), the Speaker of the National Assembly emphasized that there is only a unified Hungarian nation and a unified Hungarian cause.
László Kövér underlined:
For us, the issue of Transcarpathian Hungarians is not merely a minority issue, but an existential issue in the strictest sense of the word, just like the 21st century before us. In the 20th century, the issue of the native minority communities, which make up more than one tenth of the European population, is not only a moral issue, but also a vital real political issue. If the identity of the national communities living in the numerical minority can be eliminated, then the national identity of the numerical majority can be eliminated in the same way. And if the identity of the nations as state-forming communities is lost, then the national states as public authorities lose their main right to exist, lose their quality of representing the public good and public interest, then the European order of public authority, which has gradually developed since the Peace of Westphalia, will also lose its foundations - explained the President of the Parliament .
He said that if all this happens, first there will be general European political destabilization, then general European social anarchy, and finally, with the promise of order, a Europe will arrive that ignores all national values, serves supranational private interests instead of national interests, first only empties out all democracy, and then openly ignores it. imperial dictatorship, or as it is still called on the drawing board, the United States of Europe.
If, since 2015, the Ukrainian state, questioning their right to exist, can condemn the Hungarian, Polish or Romanian national communities in Ukraine that have been living in their homeland for thousands of years or many centuries to liquidation and assimilation, then what is the obstacle to someone with an even stronger right in the future casts doubt on the right to exist of the Hungarian, Polish or Romanian state, and on the basis of this seek to liquidate it - he asked the question in connection with the Russian aggression.
According to his words, everything that is currently happening in Ukraine proves that the policy of ethnic exclusivity or even ethnic dominance does not make the state stronger or more stable, but more vulnerable and unstable.
He also touched on the following: after the conclusion of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the European security policy architecture cannot be rebuilt without a fair settlement of the issue of national rights. In the absence of this, any new European security concept is only built on sand, he noted.
The Hungarian national policy proposal for the foundation of the new European security policy is the one formulated by the Forum of Hungarian Representatives of the Carpathian Basin in 2020, and which was also confirmed by the Hungarian Parliament:
the right to national identity should become a part of universal human rights, both those living in the numerical majority and the numerical minority should have the right to preserve their mother tongue, culture and the homeliness of their homeland and pass it on to their descendants - he pointed out.László Kövér pointed out that Hungarian unity is not only a mathematical necessity within the framework of parliamentary democracy everywhere in the Carpathian Basin, but
it is still a historical imperative that if we try again online, we will never find it easy again.
In the future, self-discipline and self-control will certainly be even more necessary everywhere in the Carpathian Basin, as there are those who have an interest in provoking the Hungarian state and the Hungarian communities abroad, since from their point of view, the self-confidence of Hungarians who have become too strong threatens their "dominion plans", he said. .
