Brussels cannot digest that the Hungarians themselves have made a decision about their own future, and that Budapest has a successful right-wing, Christian-democratic government, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Kossuth radio's Vasárnapi Újság program, evaluating the visit of the European Parliament's budget control committee to Budapest.
As Péter Szijjártó put it, a delegation suffering from "hungarophobia" visited Budapest, people who cannot stand Hungary and do not believe that Hungarians are capable of making mature, adult decisions about the future of their country. In addition, the members of the delegation wanted to interfere in matters constituting the sovereignty of Hungary.
Regarding the European Union funds due to Hungary, the minister said that he believes that the negotiations of his fellow ministers will lead to success, but they do not have an easy task, given that "international, liberal, mainstream Brussels cannot digest that the Hungarians themselves made a decision on the about their own future, and that there is a right-wing, national, patriotic, Christian-democratic government based on the will of the people in Budapest, which is successful despite all external pressure".
It must be made clear that the future of Hungary can only be decided by the Hungarians and not by Brussels
the minister stated.
Péter Szijjártó was also asked about the news that Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, proposed to the Ukrainians to stop the Friendship pipeline. The minister said that they had not received any explanation from Kiev about the rumors, but - in his opinion - this is a matter of such weight that the President of the European Commission should speak out personally, since the issue of security of energy supply is a matter of sovereignty, and if someone tries to make the security of energy supply of a country impossible , then it can be considered an attack on the sovereignty of the given country.
There are clear international agreements on how crude oil must be transported through Ukraine, if this is impossible, it will be physically impossible to supply Hungary with crude oil, as the capacity of the crude oil pipeline from Croatia is much lower than the total crude oil demand of Hungary, Slovakia and partially the Czech Republic, the minister pointed out. .
