Italian climate activists painted the water of one of Rome's most popular tourist attractions, the Trevi Fountain, black on Sunday to express their protest against fossil fuels. The monument was made iconic by Anita Ekberg and Macello Mastroianni in Fellini's film Sweet Life. Roberto Gualtieri, the mayor of Rome, called on climate activists to stop their absurd attacks on artistic heritage.

Members of the Last Generation painted the water of the Trevi Fountain in Rome black with diluted charcoal, while holding up banners reading "We will not pay for fossil fuels" and shouting "Our country is dying".

According to climate activists, the recent flooding in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, which killed fourteen people, can also be traced back to the use of fossil fuels.

With their action, they tried to persuade the Italian government to immediately stop state subsidies for all fossil fuels.

A few minutes after the protest began, the local authorities intervened and led the members of the group away from the fountain, but they could no longer prevent them from painting the water black with charcoal. All this was watched by hundreds of people.

Located in Piazza di Trevi, Fontana di Trevi, Rome's largest baroque fountain, was designed by the Italian sculptor and architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the 12th century. Commissioned by Pope Clement. Later, under the leadership of the Italian architect Nicola Salvi, the fountain was somewhat modified, and in 1762 it acquired its present form under the hand of Giuseppe Pannini.

But for the modern era, Anita Eckberg's performance in Federico Fellini's Sweet has made her iconic and unforgettable.

Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, in a social media post, praised the authorities for stopping the activists and avoiding likely permanent damage to the marble parts of the fountain.

According to Gualtieri, the activists caused significant environmental damage with their actions, as it takes about 300,000 liters of water to refill the fountain. "This is absolutely not the right way to fight for the environment and climate change," said the mayor.

He added: "Such gestures are completely wrong and harmful because they risk damaging valuable public assets such as our monuments and forcing public administrations to undertake very expensive and environmentally damaging restoration interventions."

Civilians Info: These activists are amazing, they not only destroy our built environment, but also try to blacken our mental world. I understand that they will save the earth with their giant egos, but at least they should not interfere with our souls and respect the creations of mankind.

According to a leading Italian central banker, to meet extreme green demands, it would be necessary to destroy Europe's architectural heritage. Paolo Angelini, vice president of the Italian National Bank, said, "if they allow us to demolish all our historic buildings and build energy-efficient buildings instead, we can do (zero emissions-ed.)."

I know they are paying activists to create confusion everywhere. It is already a well-established custom among the globalists to send children to the front line, there are well-known examples of this in our country, see Lili Pankotai, or previously Blanka Nagy, and here is this Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg, who travels by sea and plane world, thus hardly polluting the air, in comparison it attaches itself to everything that emits carbon dioxide.

I hope he was not involved in this black soup action, since his compatriot made that beautiful well so famous.
