The mayor is "held in the lead" by the opposition parties; they can do this, because he is unworthy of his position due to lack of expertise and leadership qualities - stated the chairman of the CÖF-CÖKA board of trustees at a press conference in Budapest on Wednesday.
László Csizmadia believed that
Gergely Karácsony puts his political ambitions before his job duties, he wanted to make up for his incompetence and human shortcomings by employing many "living party politicians; the result is a catastrophic bankruptcy after several years of reign.
Citizens find it intolerable that their tax forints will only give them traffic chaos and the "delayed torsos" of the investments prepared by the previous mayor.
Gergely Karácsony lost his way as Zugló mayor, mayor and party politician; his former party is barely recognizable anymore, he has lost the trust of the capital's population, and his measures go awry one after another. Instead of conducting professional consultations with the reigning government and producing useful constructions for the joy of the citizens of Budapest, he neglected public utility services and made the capital's traffic unusable, emphasized László Csizmadia.
The mayor faces the government, which represents two-thirds of the electorate, together with the opposition parties
works to ensure that the Hungarian people do not receive the rightful EU subsidies
- highlighted the chairman of the board of trustees.
According to his opinion, Gergely Karácsony is lobbying with his persistent representative in Brussels, Benedek Jávor, as well as Katalin Cseh, Gyurcsány, and Anna Donáth, so that these funds do not go to the state coffers, but directly to the municipalities they prefer, which would create hotbeds of corruption.
László Csizmadia stated:
In 2024, at the local government elections, the capital city must be turned upside down.
As he said, during his mayoralty, István Tarlós put the needs of the people of Budapest before the political interests of the party and did not spare his strength when he had to engage in professional discussions with the government. The compromise was always reached and never turned into a political war, stated the chairman of the board of trustees.
He noted: it would be best if Gergely Karácsony resigned "recognizing his incompetence" and left "where there is no way to cause damage, or possibly to the South of Poland".
CÖF-CÖKA recommends a patriotic, creative mayor candidate to Fidesz-KDNP
said László Csizmadia. He added: the new mayor should focus on the reconstruction of the City Hall and keep the interests of the country and the people of Budapest in mind!
Constitutional lawyer Zoltán Lomnici Jr., CÖF-CÖKA spokesperson, spoke about the
many people from Budapest turn to them in frustration about various cases in the capital, including criminal cases.
"There are many examples of the irresponsible handling of public assets in the capital, such as the Biodóm, the Chain Bridge, the Blaha Lujza tér case, the corruption cases in Zugló, the City Hall scandal, and the conflict with the government, which culminated in the fact that it did not want to pay taxes the capital city has to comply with," listed the constitutional lawyer. He also mentioned the case of "suspected corruption of BKV buses" as well as "corruption cases of employees and consultants".
Many cases cry out for a solution, for a successful official procedure, and the CÖF-CÖKA "keeps its hand on the main force of the cases in the capital city", said Mr. Zoltán Lomnici. He said: they will use all legal means - for example, using public interest data requests - to uncover "possible further scandals of the irresponsible capital leadership" and thereby contribute to a right-wing turn at the head of the capital next year.
