The Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences was ranked among the top 100 in the world in the Zero Hunger category of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, which defines the fight against hunger declared by the United Nations.

This puts it in a category with outstanding universities such as the 65th-ranked Wageningen University or the 72nd-ranked Tokyo University of Agricultural Sciences, which are among the world's leading institutions in the agricultural sector.

The main feature of the Impact Rankings, published on June 1, is that it evaluates universities based on the UN's seventeen sustainable development goals in a unique way in the world. In this way, in addition to educational and research excellence, the institution's efforts to support the fight against global challenges and how it uses its innovative development results for the benefit of society and the environment are also extremely important. This year, 1,591 higher education institutions from 112 countries were included in the ranking, of which MATE was ranked 401-600 overall. achieved a position.

"In many cases, the biggest challenges of our time are closely related to agriculture, so it is extremely important to breed and grow plants that adapt to the effects of climate change, to produce food rich in nutrients, to maintain food security, sustainable water management and biodiversity. Our university performs outstanding work in these areas at the world level, thus it was ranked 97th, i.e. in the best 15 percent of the world, in relation to the Zero Hunger sustainable development goal representing the fight against hunger" -

Among Hungarian universities, the University of Debrecen is 301-400, the University of Szeged and ELTE are 401-600. finished in the overall ranking.

MATE also performed excellently in other rankings in the past period. Among other things, he improved another 50 places and thus 151-200. achieved a place in one of the world's most respected higher education rankings, the QS 2023 agricultural science ranking. With this result, he achieved the university's best position ever and was among the top 12 percent in the world in the field of science most important to him.
