On Tuesday, the Hungarian national football team won a two-goal victory over the Lithuanian team in the European Championship qualifying match held at the Puskás Arena.
Thanks to the easy success, coach Marco Rossi's team took the lead in their group with a better goal difference, as the Serbians, who had been leading the list until now, drew in Bulgaria.
The Hungarians, who are still undefeated against the Lithuanians after six meetings, took the lead in the 32nd minute with Barnabás Varga's first goal for the national team, and the final result was set up by Roland Sallai's bomb goal in the 83rd minute. The national team did not concede a goal in its fourth game in a row.
On the next game day, September 7, the Hungarian national team will be the guest of the great rival Serbia in Belgrade.
The home fans, with a real flag forest and national-colored molinos with the words "every match day: a holiday!" they welcomed their favorites in the sold-out stadium with a message. Accordingly, the players of the national team did not want to spoil the celebration, they seized the initiative from the first minute, it was only eight minutes before the first dangerous situation occurred, but Gazdag's header was saved by a visiting defender, and after the corner, Szalai's shot was saved by the goalkeeper. His dangerous shots above Gadsag and Varga already indicated that it was only a matter of time before he scored the leading goal. Due to the strength of the completely trapped Lithuanians, they only ran on defense, however, the Hungarians still managed to lead promising actions on both sides and in the middle, the only thing missing was the accurate finish. The momentum did not wane as time passed, as Rossi requested, shots rained on the Lithuanian goal and passes in front of him, and finally the latter led to a result after more than half an hour of play. Before the break, Szoboszlai almost doubled the lead, but his free kick from 25 meters into the upper right corner ended up hitting the crossbar.
The second half of the game continued where the first half left off, after the change of half, he made a great save in the first minute of the shot of the Lithuanian goalkeeper Gazdag. Later on, the Hungarians played football with a huge advantage, but they were less dangerous than before, only Sallai and Kleinheisler, who came on as a substitute, had a big chance, but the former's close header and the latter's shot missed the bottom left corner. The minimal advantage was not reassuring, but the Lithuanians barely crossed the halfway line for a long time, so there was no cause for concern in terms of the picture of the game. Although there were many more Lithuanian actions in the first half, the guests finally ended the match with only one attempt to hit the goal, so the victory was not in danger. The match was finally closed by Sallai's bomb goal, after which both teams were waiting for the triple whistle.
