A fraction of Budapest residents voted in favor of keeping the Chain Bridge closed to car traffic. Gergely Karácsony talks about success, but according to the rules of algebra, this is a complete failure - this is how István Tarlós evaluated the result of the Budapest residents' assembly in response to the inquiry of hirado.hu
Our portal also reported that the residents' meeting announced by the capital has ended, referring to the results of which Gergely Karácsony would deprive motorists of the opportunity to use the Chain Bridge.
Mayor Gergely Karácsony referred to the vote in which only nine percent of those entitled to answer participated as the largest participation vote in the capital's history.
"Look, let's ignore what Gergely Karácsony says, because it's actually an attempt to dampen the judgment of the public"
- explained the former mayor of Budapest in connection with the fact that the current leader of the capital communicates failure as a success.
István Tarlós explained to hirado.hu that it is not worth comparing the residents' assembly organized by the capital to national consultations, since in the case of the former, easily transparent issues were discussed, such as migration or child protection, but the Chain Bridge case is a professional issue that operates according to strict rules. which laymen do not have sufficient insight into.
Serious dilettantism
"To ask adults and teenage children who, through no fault of their own, suffer from a lack of information about the closure of the Chain Bridge is not democracy, but a cowardly transfer of responsibility, and on the other hand, serious dilettantism," said István Tarlós, who pointed out that the questions raised at the residents' assembly received a total of seven percent support, so that even teenagers could vote .
"Seventy-nine percent of the nine percent voted yes, which means only seven percent support"
- stated the former mayor of Budapest, emphasizing that if a referendum had been held, even three times this amount of support would have been insufficient for the referendum to be valid. According to István Tarlós, the numbers reflect that the initiative of the Karácsonys was drowned in lack of interest.
"According to the rules of algebra, this is a complete failure"
István Tarlós said about the result of the residents' meeting.
"I think legitimizing the closure of the Chain Bridge by referring to seven percent support is pure fraud"
István Tarlós evaluated the efforts of the capital's leadership.
